Mini-Internship: Reviewing for Transparency and Reproducibility: What Authors Should Know

The BEST program mini-internships are designed to expose trainees to “a day on the job” for a variety of career paths, through hands-on exercises, site visits, and/or case discussions with biomedical professionals. At this mini-internship, come play the role of scientific editor, as Dr. Prager leads attendees through hands-on activities designed to instruct about the editorial process for reviewing manuscripts, ethical considerations in publishing, and the editorial decision making procedures.

Dr. Prager is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Neuroscience Research and the Developmental Editor for Current Protocols in Neuroscience. Dr. Prager earned his Ph.D. from the Uniformed Services University in Neuroscience, where he investigated the long-term consequences of a nerve agent exposure. Cooperating with groups from the NIH and the National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement & Reduction of Animals in Research, Dr. Prager has developed new guidelines to promote transparent science and increase reproducibility of published research.
