Non-VT Event: Careers in Non-Profits and Non-Government Organizations

November 17, 2015 @ 3:00 am - 5:00 pm

Building 50, Room 1227
Nov 17, 2015 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

This event is recommended for: Graduate Students; Postdocs/Fellows.

Perhaps you followed a career in science because you wanted to make a difference in the world, but are now ready to step away from the bench. If you like to spend your days working towards improving the common good of society through educational, scientific, or public outreach, consider a career with non-profit or non-governmental organizations (NPO/NGOs). Join us for an interactive discussion with a panel of speakers working in the Washington metropolitan area and learn how you can translate your PhD to create positive change in local or international communities. We will discuss topics including how to transition to such a role, what a typical day might look like, work-life balance, as well as questions from the audience.

This event is sponsored by the NIH FelCom Career Development Committee.
