“Making Decisions”

This year’s retreat will focus on making decisions from both a philosophical perspective and a scientific perspective. Graduate school is full of big decisions from what lab we join to what career we pursue after a PhD and many other personal and professional decisions. Learning how to properly think about and make these big decisions is a necessary skill that would greatly benefit our students. At the retreat, we will explore this theme with team-building activities, engaging speakers, and networking with fellow graduate students. The all-day event will kick off with a keynote session about how we make decisions. In the afternoon, team-building activities will allow us to strengthen relationships within our graduate community and learn about different the ways we each make decisions. Take a break from your everyday routine, and come enjoy a day of learning, personal development, and community with your fellow graduate students.

Dynamic and interactive talks about decision making
Group activities and team-building exercises
Networking over coffee and snacks
The Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF) is a beautiful facility surrounded by spacious green areas. There is a cafeteria on campus to purchase refreshments. Shuttles will be provided between main campus and the ATRF in Frederick. Come and join your graduate community for a day of fun, learning and networking!
