Mini-Internship: Sciencing the Press: Pro Tips from a Double Agent

December 2nd, 2016; 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Roanoke

The BEST program mini-internships are designed to expose trainees to “a day on the job” for a variety of career paths, through hands-on exercises, site visits, and/or case discussions with biomedical professionals.

Got Science? Then you need to sell it: not just to your friends and family, who want to understand what you do because they care about you, but also to strangers who think about and write about science. In this mini-internship, Dr. Sheyna Gifford will share her experiences as a Scientist-in-Residence at the St. Louis Science Center. The mini-internship will demonstrate how to use everyday tools to get the right kind of attention from the media, how to lead them to write the kind of stories you want them to write, and how to build an online following for your subset of science.
